Former French national team forward Karim Benzema did not rule out a potential return to the national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The 37-year-old forward of Al-Ittihad announced his retirement from international football in 2022.
"If I am invited [to the national team], I will come. Who wouldn’t want to play in the World Cup? Everyone wants to participate in this competition. If I say that I don’t want to, I would be a liar," Benzema's words are quoted by L’Équipe.
As part of the 'Les Bleus', Benzema participated in 97 matches in all tournaments, where he scored 37 goals and provided 20 assists.
