Dmitry Tursunov, former coach of world number one Aryna Sabalenka, reacted to the news that former world number two Vera Zvonareva has resumed her playing career. The athlete reached the second round of the WTA 100 tournament in Dubai (UAE).
“Knowing Vera and her returns, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she finishes the year in the top 150, or even higher,” Tursunov wrote on his social media page.
41-year-old Zvonareva has not played in tournaments in both singles and doubles since spring 2024. Currently, the Russian has no WTA ranking.
Meanwhile, Zvonareva is a four-time finalist in Grand Slam tournaments and the winner of the WTA Finals in doubles.
