Latvia's number one player Alena Ostapenko maintained her 23rd position in the updated Women's Tennis Association (WTA) singles rankings, while Daria Semenistaya dropped three places to 97th, reports LETA.
The WTA tour has concluded, but several "WTA 125" series tournaments and the most prestigious ITF tournaments will still take place before the end of the year, which may lead to slight changes in the top hundred of the rankings.
Among other Latvian tennis players, Anastasia Sevastova rose five places (204th), Kamilla Bartone dropped the same number of positions (569th). Adelina Lachinova lost two positions (628th), Beatrice Zeltiņa — six (645th), Diana Marcinkevich — one (801st), Elza Tomase — five (931st), Sabine Rutlauka rose one spot (1252nd), and Margarita Ignatieva — two (1472nd).
There are no changes in the top ten of the WTA rankings. Leading is Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, followed by Polish Iga Swiatek, then Americans Coco Gauff and Amanda Anisimova, Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, and then two more American players — Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys. Eighth place is held by Italian Jasmine Paolini, and the top ten is completed by Russians Mira Andreyeva and Ekaterina Alexandrova.
In the WTA doubles rankings, Ostapenko finished the season in seventh place. Daria Semenistaya maintained her 153rd position, while Sevastova is in 505th place. Bartone rose one position (555th), Tomase dropped one (584th), and there are no changes for Marcinkevich (659th). There are also eight more Latvian tennis players in the doubles rankings, occupying positions below 900th.
The season in doubles was concluded in first place by Czech player Katerina Siniakova.
