Six Russian luge athletes have been allowed to qualify for the 2026 Olympic Games.
The International Luge Federation (FIL) has permitted domestic athletes to compete under a neutral status. The right to compete for spots at the Olympics has been granted to Alexander Gorbatevich, Pavel Repilov, Matvey Perestoronin, Sofia Mazur, Darya Olesik, and Ksenia Shamova. All of them compete in single-seater sleds.
Additionally, other team representatives will also be able to attend the competitions alongside the athletes. Coaches, mechanics, doctors, and masseurs have been granted permission.
On October 31, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) allowed Russian luge athletes to participate in international competitions under a neutral status. The court partially upheld the appeal of the Russian Luge Federation.
In June 2025, the FIL extended the suspension of Russian athletes, citing safety risks for the competitions. However, the CAS deemed such a decision disproportionate.
The 2026 Olympic Games will take place from February 6 to 22 in Italy.
