The captain of the Latvian men's basketball team, Dairis Bertāns, announced on Tuesday that he is retiring from the national team, according to LETA.
"The time has come! Thank you to everyone who believed in me and supported me on this journey. I gave everything I could to this team and this country," wrote the 36-year-old basketball player on his Facebook page. "Representing Latvia was a great honor that I will never forget. This will always be my favorite team."
Bertāns, who currently plays for the Latvian champion VEF Rīga, announced that his last match with the national team will take place on November 28 against the Netherlands in the World Cup qualifiers.
