Washington forward Alexander Ovechkin scored a goal in a home game of the NHL regular season against Los Angeles (2:1).
Thanks to this goal, Ovechkin scored his 442nd goal at Capital One Arena, surpassing Gordie Howe (441 goals at Detroit Olympia) and setting the NHL record for the most goals in a regular season scored at the same stadium.
Ovechkin also broke Jaromir Jagr's record for the most game-winning goals in home NHL games, including playoffs.
Ovechkin now has 81 such goals, while Jagr has 80, according to StatsCentre.
