Who is vying for a spot in the symbolic football team of 2025?

Argentinian forward Lionel Messi of Inter Miami and Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr have made the list of candidates for the symbolic team of the year according to FIFPro, as reported on the organization's social media.

A total of 26 footballers are on the shortlist. The nominees were chosen by over 20,000 players. The final lineup of the symbolic team for 2025 will be announced on November 3.

Goalkeepers: Alisson (Liverpool, Brazil), Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid, Belgium), Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG/Manchester City, Italy);

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool/Real Madrid, England), Pau Cubarsi (Barcelona, Spain), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool, Netherlands), Achraf Hakimi (PSG, Morocco), Marquinhos (PSG, Brazil), Nuno Mendes (PSG, Portugal), William Saliba (Arsenal, France);

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid, England), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City/Napoli, Belgium), Luka Modric (Real Madrid/Milan, Croatia), Joao Neves (PSG, Portugal), Cole Palmer (Chelsea, England), Pedri (Barcelona, Spain), Federico Valverde (Real Madrid, Uruguay), Vitinha (PSG, Portugal);

In 2024, Messi and Ronaldo did not make the symbolic team of the year according to FIFPro, but were among the nominees for inclusion in the team.
