Today, October 9, the Washington Capitals played their first game of the new season in the National Hockey League (NHL).
At their home arena, Capital One Arena, Alexander Ovechkin's team lost to the Boston Bruins with a score of 1:3.
The winners' goals were scored by David Pastrnak, Elias Lindholm, and Morgan Geekie, who hit the empty net. Russian defenseman Nikita Zadorov recorded an assist.
The only goal for Washington was scored by Tom Wilson. Team captain Alexander Ovechkin did not register any points. He had a plus/minus rating of "-1", 3 shots on goal, and 2 hits in 18:16 on the ice.
