Border guards need support from the National Armed Forces and colleagues from other Baltic countries.
The Minister of the Interior, Janis Dombrava, fears that border guards, without support from other structures, simply will not cope with the flow of migrants from third countries attempting to enter Latvia. He stated this on social media: "Like a dark storm cloud, they come and come towards our country... And the border guards manage to stop a huge number of immigrants in the border zone who have managed to overcome the fence. Just in June, there will be several thousand who were prevented from entering Latvia. Thank you to the border guards for this!
At the same time, it is clear that without additional support from the National Armed Forces and neighboring countries, they will not be able to catch all the migrants."
