Thus, the official election campaign will begin on June 6, which means that certain financial and advertising restrictions for participants in the upcoming elections will come into effect.
On June 20, the Central Election Commission will start accepting lists of parties and associations that will compete for coveted seats in the 15th Saeima. The submission of lists will end on July 5. According to forecasts, at least 14 parties and associations will participate in the elections for the new parliament!
It is worth noting that the main election day is October 3. However, voters will be able to cast their votes in advance (submit their votes for safekeeping) on all the preceding days, starting from September 28! Polling stations, however, will operate during specific hours.
On the morning of October 4, preliminary election results will be announced. The new Saeima will hold its first meeting on November 3.
As previously reported, recent public opinion poll results were released. Respondents were asked who they would vote for if the elections to the Saeima were held today. The poll, however, was conducted before Evika Silina's resignation and the nomination of a new candidate for prime minister.
Meanwhile, if we translate the percentages of political party ratings into parliamentary mandates, it turns out that "Latvia First" and "Progressives" would receive 18 mandates each, the United List - 14, "New Unity" - 13, "Sovereign Power" - 12, the Union of Greens and Farmers - 10, the National Alliance - 9, and the party "We Change the Rules" - 6.
We emphasize: this is a very preliminary distribution of seats, not taking into account the latest political changes, namely the resignation of Silina's government and the approval of Kulbergs' government. More informative ratings will be released by sociologists sometime in the second half of June.
