Kulbergs will hold an off-site government meeting this month.
At this hour, the first working meeting of the new government is taking place. As an additional question, in a closed session, the Prime Minister and ministers reviewed a report from the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development on "Improving the Electoral Platform." The document, which is currently closed to the public, apparently discussed how to prepare an up-to-date electronic voter register and a system for entering already manually counted votes. The report was acknowledged.
At the same time, the new government decided to postpone the consideration of two documents from the Ministry of Economics - regarding possible actions in case of negative consequences for the Latvian economy from the conflict in the Middle East and on monitoring fuel trading prices.
Before the government meeting, Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs shared his view on the government's work schedule on social media, expressing a desire to change the previous system.
"Today is the first Cabinet meeting for the new government. The math is very simple. We have 88 working days left. This means 17 regular Cabinet meetings + 4 on bureaucracy, meetings of the MKC committees, and others.
Standard Cabinet meetings are clogged with completely insignificant, absurd questions that do not correspond to the level of the Cabinet. It is difficult to change everything in 4 months because it is all written in laws, but we will work on it.
Therefore, I have determined that there will be at least 2 meetings a week, or even 3, so that we can accomplish the tasks outlined in our declaration.
June 18 may become the day when we consider the three priorities designated by each minister (a total of 42).
On June 27, there will be an off-site meeting in Latgale.
Everyone must work disciplined, efficiently, and focus on the tasks at hand," wrote the head of government.
