The political scientist outlined the main tasks of the future Kulbergs government and commented on the decision to "throw out" the "progressives."
So, next week a new government will appear in the country. Political scientist, Professor of the University of Latvia Janis Ikstens very accurately called the future government "air," considering the problems it will have to solve.
If we talk about the election campaign, in my opinion, the future government will be such an "air government." The first issue is the security of Latvia, where the main problem is flying drones. The second problem is airBaltic. Thirdly, this government will likely "release air" from the rewards fund (a fund for bonuses and awards in public administration - note by the author) and procurement budgets. There will probably also be quite a few air tricks regarding safe elections, human rights, Istanbul, and so on," noted Janis Ikstens in an interview with diena.lv.
Commenting to the same publication on the process of negotiations to form the government, the political scientist expressed the opinion that the "progressives" could have been elegantly excluded from the negotiation process. Not because of the ultimatum from the National Alliance, but because the "progressives," being typically leftist, would oppose salary cuts and insist on borrowing. And that would be a sufficient reason not to include them in the government.
