'New Unity' today decided to participate in the formation of a new government if an agreement is reached on the upcoming work.
Most likely, the new government will include the 'United List' (OS), 'New Unity', the National Alliance, and the Union of Greens and Farmers (SZK), which will ensure the necessary majority in the Saeima.
The head of the 'New Unity' faction in the Saeima, Edmunds Jurēvics, told reporters that 'New Unity' is a responsible state party, ready to take on responsibility and continue negotiations on the further work of the government, including working in a coalition of four parties.
Jurēvics emphasized that a concrete and realistic work plan is expected from the potential Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (OS). At the same time, 'New Unity' is ready to continue negotiations and present its proposals.
The politician notes that a response to the already submitted proposals is still awaited. It is important to agree not only on the form of cooperation but also on specific matters, he said: 'An agreement without actions is an incomplete agreement.'
He also emphasized that the forming government must be based on a clear action plan and a common vision, and there should be no change in the approach to sanctions policy, which is one of the most important prerequisites for the stable functioning of the government.
Kulbergs, after negotiations with representatives of 'New Unity' on Tuesday, stated that the process of forming the government has significantly progressed and currently involves four parties in the negotiations. He indicated that by Wednesday morning, a version of the common action document should be prepared, outlining the main principles of the government's work - financial stability, security, fiscal discipline, and combating cartels.
Kulbergs emphasized that it is important to achieve mutual understanding and a unified vision among partners so that society can soon see whether a viable government can be formed.
