Today's decision by the president to assign the formation of the government to Andris Kulbergs was commented on in the social network X by political scientist Jurģis Liepnieks.
"An interesting decision. I am skeptical. I also find it amusing that the New Unity and the National Alliance support this. But here is a big victory for the United List and a wonderful gift from the president to them before the elections. But one must still be able to take advantage of this gift," emphasized the expert. In other words, Kulbergs still needs to be able to create a government.
Meanwhile, former Saeima deputy Jānis Iesalnieks believes that "of all the candidates nominated for prime minister so far, Kulbergs is indeed the strongest and possibly the most ambitious. This is significant. The president understands what kind of candidate society expects in this situation."
