The politician urges to urgently adopt the drone recognition program from Ukraine.

The morning arrival of drones has stirred the political opposition. As previously reported, the parliamentary opposition has begun collecting signatures demanding the resignation of Minister of Defense Andris Spruds. A prominent figure from the National Alliance, former mayor of Ogre Egils Helmanis, also made a furious comment.

"Today we have entered a new stage of escalation. This time, no one can excuse themselves by saying that a 'friendly drone' has arrived. It was a deliberate attack on a Latvian strategic object - fuel reserves.

Our phones are silent. No warnings or alarms are coming in. The Ukrainians offered Latvian 'smart ones' a program that reports on the movement of drones in the airspace - how fast they are flying and what kind of drone it is. The Latvian wise men did not take this program, while the Estonians, however, agreed and took it.

Why can't we just take the program from the Ukrainians and start using it? Our progressives, instead, are throwing dust in our eyes about drone walls. This time, I believe that Sprud should resign. Someone needs to muster the courage to fire him if he himself lacks the courage," wrote Egils Helmanis on social media.

He stated that in Latvia there is "poverty in everything" - in ideas, in the defense of the country, and in informing the population. "We need to change for real," the politician said, once again urging the use of the program developed by Ukraine.
