Our proposal to remove the Russian language was rejected 0 19

It should be noted that currently the driving test (theory and practice) can only be taken in the state language for Latvian citizens and non-citizens. Citizens of other countries are allowed to take the exam at CSDD in both English and Russian. This did not please the members of the Saeima from the National Alliance, who took advantage of the fact that the traffic law is open and submitted a proposal to prohibit conducting exams at CSDD in Russian. However, the majority of the Saeima Economic Commission did not support this initiative, as reported on social media by National Alliance parliamentarian Arturs Butans: "Our proposal to remove the Russian language was rejected." One commenter on the social media platform X suggested that the deputies look to Germany, where the driving test can be taken not only in German but also in English, Polish, Turkish, and Russian!
