Preparation for the law on the implementation of the project of the century will continue in parliament.
Members of parliament will return to work, that is, to the Saeima, and on the holiday of May 4th, a ceremonial meeting of the parliament will traditionally take place, dedicated to the 36th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Restoration of Independence of Latvia. On the agenda is a speech by the Speaker of the Saeima, Daiga Mierina. The following day, the working week of the Saeima will begin. Members of the Defense and Internal Affairs Committee will continue to review a record number of proposals submitted for the new immigration bill. It is expected that this law will be adopted in its final reading during May. Meanwhile, the parliamentary investigative committee on migration will begin discussing the final report of this investigative committee.
Another investigative committee of the Saeima - investigating the reasons for the inflated tariffs by the company 'Rīgas siltums' - intends to hear from the members of the board of the company 'Rīgas siltums'.
On the agenda of the budget committee is a discussion regarding the very controversial bill on the solidarity payment for fuel traders. It should be noted that the bill provides for the seizure of excess profits, that is, unreasonably high markups on the retail sale of fuel.
The Saeima Economic Committee will continue work on the bill for the implementation of Rail Baltica. Meanwhile, members of the Citizenship, Society Integration, and Migration Committee will discuss the creation of an adult Latvian language education system.
