No company responded to the call to demolish the so-called 'House of Moscow' in Vilnius on a voluntary basis or for a symbolic fee, the Construction Inspection reported.
“No company responded to our call,” said Rosvaldas Gorbachovas, a representative of the inspection.
According to Gorbachovas, since there was no interest from companies, and the construction company Regina ir Co did not appeal the court's decision until last Friday, a new tender for the demolition will be announced soon.
Earlier, the BNS agency reported that Regina ir Co lost a dispute in the Kaunas District Court against the Construction Inspection regarding the tender for the demolition of the 'House of Moscow.' The company stated that further disputes would require significant financial and time resources; moreover, it does not see a clear political or institutional will to continue this public procurement.
Due to the fact that the court's decision to demolish the building near the capital's center has not been implemented for four years, Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas stated that he has approached construction companies with a proposal to demolish the building on a voluntary basis.
