Perhaps the ministry should be abolished

The Minister of Economics spoke harshly about the activities of the Ministry of Transport.

As is known, one of the conditions put forward by the 'green farmers' in exchange for supporting the loan for airBaltic is the reorganization of the Ministry of Transport. The Prime Minister agreed to this. However, the Minister of Transport, Aitis Švinka ('Progressives'), who was not present at the coalition council, later stated that he was not aware of any reorganization being discussed.

This evening, in a live broadcast on Latvian TV, the Minister of Economics, Viktors Valainis (Union of Greens and Farmers), explained that the Ministry of Transport simply cannot cope with current issues (Rail Baltica, airBaltic) and it is obvious that the functions of this ministry need to be reviewed in order to make the work of this agency more efficient. "And perhaps it is worth simply redistributing functions to other ministries and considering the abolition of the ministry," stated the head of the Ministry of Economics.
