The government plans to compensate Riga and Jurmala for the funds spent on hosting refugees and individuals with alternative status, according to a draft Cabinet of Ministers order submitted for approval on the legal acts portal, reports LETA.
The Ministry of Smart Governance and Regional Development plans to allocate €31,905 from contingency funds to be distributed to municipalities.
Riga Municipality is set to receive €31,542, while Jurmala will receive €363.
Riga will be compensated for assistance provided to 20 individuals who received refugee status or alternative status between 2024 and 2025, while Jurmala will be reimbursed for expenses related to one person.
