The former leader of the 'Stability!' party is currently in Belarus.
The Riga City Court on Thursday decided to change the preventive measure for the deputy of the Riga City Council, former leader of the 'Stability!' party, Alexey Roslikov, who has left for Belarus, to arrest, as reported by the LETA agency.
This motion was presented by prosecutor Kaspars Andrushkins at the court hearing for the criminal case in which Roslikov is accused of inciting national hatred.
At the same time, a decision was made to declare the accused wanted, and the court proceedings were suspended until his discovery.
The former member of the Saeima, who today announced his resignation from the board of the 'Stability!' party, joined the court session remotely from Belarus, where he is currently located. Videos posted on social media suggest that Roslikov traveled to Belarus several days ago.
The prosecutor's motion to change the preventive measure was considered in a closed session of the court.
The prosecution believes that Roslikov's actions were aimed at inciting national and ethnic hatred to provoke discontent and division in society.
Roslikov claims that the case is a political order. He notes that part of the charges, including the alleged connection with Russia, has been dropped against him, and he is confident that he will be able to win the case in court.
