Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs had a phone conversation with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and expressed solidarity with the people of Israel following recent attacks by Iran and associated terrorist organizations, Rinkēvičs reported on social media.
According to him, during the conversation, the parties also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine.
It was previously reported that as a result of an Iranian missile strike in central Israel on Tuesday, at least 12 people were injured, emergency services reported.
The Israeli ambulance service Magen David Adom provided first aid to nine victims in the city of Bnei Brak near Tel Aviv, after which they were transported to local hospitals.
Among the injured is a 23-year-old man in moderate condition with shrapnel wounds to the abdomen and head, as well as eight people with minor injuries, including six children.
Three more people were injured in the nearby city of Givat Shmuel.
Video footage shows severe damage to buildings, including a balcony that collapsed onto a car. Photos released by the rescue service also captured a building where the top-floor apartment collapsed onto the floor below.
The Israeli army warned of Iranian missile launches 12 times from midnight until Tuesday.
