Members will also consider the strategy for integrating residents of Ukraine in Latvia.

At the beginning of next week, two meetings of the parliamentary investigative commission on migration will be dedicated to the stay of third-country students in Latvia. Many parliamentarians insist on tightening the rules for the entry and stay of foreign students here, who often use a student visa to find employment in Latvia.

In turn, the Saeima's Social Affairs Commission will continue to review amendments to the Labor Law. The amendments have sparked angry protests from trade unions, as they worsen the rights of hired workers - in particular, one of the amendments allows employers to pay less for overtime work.

Members of the Citizenship, Migration and Society Cohesion Commission will hear from experts regarding the strategy for integrating Ukrainian refugees in Latvia. The war in Ukraine has been ongoing for five years, and it is clear that many residents of Ukraine who have obtained residence permits in Latvia may stay here for a long time. Therefore, the issue of teaching them the Latvian language and finding employment needs to be addressed.

Meanwhile, members of the Defense and Internal Affairs Commission will hear a report on the work of the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB).
