According to the National Alliance, private radio and television channels cannot place advertising audio-visual clips in Russian.
It seems that we do not have censorship, and the Constitution prohibits it. However, this does not prevent, for example, the parliamentary faction of the National Alliance from proposing to ban advertisements in any language other than the state language on TV and radio channels. This was happily reported on the social network X by Saeima deputy from the National Alliance, Arturs Butans: "We initiated changes to the Electronic Media Law: new broadcasting licenses will only be issued to radio stations in Latvian, allowing advertisements on TV and radio only in the state language. Will the progressives and defenders of bilingualism come up with arguments again that the Satversme protects bilingualism?"
