The President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, participated in a discussion on support for Ukraine at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Rinkēvičs was positioned in the presidium to the right of Mark Rutte – the NATO Secretary General.

During the discussion on support for Ukraine and its potential accession to the European Union, the President of Latvia emphasized Ukraine's role in strengthening European security, bb.lv reported from the Office of the President of Latvia.

"Potential membership of Ukraine in the European Union should be viewed more broadly. We are used to perceiving the European Union as a political, economic, and monetary union. However, Ukraine's accession to the EU will strengthen the defense identity of the European Union," noted E. Rinkēvičs.

The President's participation in the forum concluded with an informal meeting of global economic leaders focused on Europe’s strategic role in the changing geopolitical environment and economic competition.

In addition to discussions about Ukraine's fate, Rinkēvičs met with Annette Krebber-Rill, Vice President of the technology company Google for Public Policy and Government Affairs in Europe.
