Schools experiencing difficulties in transitioning to education in Latvian will be "scrutinized," and the change of directors is not ruled out, stated Vilnis Kiršis (New Unity), Deputy Chairman of the Riga City Council, in an interview for the Latvian Television program "Morning Panorama," according to LETA.

According to him, there are about 20 problematic schools in the capital in the context of the transition to education in the state language.

When asked how these schools are identified, Kiršis explained that the State Service for Quality of Education (SSQE) conducted the inspection, and a detailed report is expected soon. A diagnostic assessment organized by the Ministry of Education and Science is also scheduled for April.

"After that, we will see a lot," noted Kiršis.

The politician emphasized that school directors are key figures in educational institutions, and they can use additional allocated funding to attract assistants, conduct extracurricular activities, and other initiatives.

He stated that schools will be required to deliver results.

"The schools where there are problems will be scrutinized. And I do not rule out that this may lead to the change of directors at some educational institutions," said Kiršis.

He also did not exclude the possibility of many such personnel decisions, but expressed hope that this could be avoided. "We are receiving many signals regarding different schools, but now is the last moment to get to work," he emphasized.
