The Ministry of Culture proposes to transfer the 'Gors' concert hall building from municipal ownership to full state ownership, public media reports.

In addition, the state intends to participate in the development of its content by 75%. This proposal was put forward by the ministry on January 16 during a meeting with representatives of the Rezekne municipality, the Ministry of Economics, and the Ministry of Smart Governance and Regional Development.

A response from the municipality has not yet been received. This means that the Ministry of Culture will have the greatest influence on the content, while a small part will be left to the municipality so that it can, for example, support a professional wind orchestra. The Ministry of Culture makes this proposal so that the concert hall ensures the accessibility of regional cultural policy and professional cultural and artistic services.

The head of the municipality's working group, deputy Karina Bartkevicha, said that a constructive dialogue took place between the city and the responsible ministries on Friday, but the Ministry of Culture's proposal needs to be considered:

"We will all study it together, and by the 20th we will summarize all the issues and send all the information to the Ministry of Culture. On the 21st, the next meeting will take place, but I can assure you that the city of Rezekne is ready for work and communication, and only through constructive dialogue can real results be achieved."

On January 21, a meeting of the Latgale sub-commission of the Saeima's Human Rights and Public Affairs Commission will take place, during which the issue of 'Gors' will be discussed.
