Latvia supports the Paris Declaration on Ukraine, stated Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina, who participated today in the summit of leaders of the Coalition of Goodwill countries in Paris.
According to the press service of the Prime Minister, at the meeting, Silina confirmed her readiness to participate in ensuring long-term security guarantees for Ukraine and expressed support for the Paris Declaration.
Silina noted that Latvia is ready to make a practical contribution to strengthening Ukraine's potential.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the next step will be to make decisions at the national level, including in the Saeima.
It should be noted that France and the United Kingdom have already signed a declaration to deploy their military in Ukraine after a ceasefire is achieved.
At the same time, Italy and Poland have already refused to send their armed forces to Ukraine.
From Silina's statement, it is unclear whether Latvian troops will be sent to Ukraine. However, considering that the deployment of soldiers and officers abroad must be accepted by the Saeima of Latvia, and the fact that Silina mentioned "making decisions at the national level, including in the Saeima," it is not excluded that such an idea could be implemented in practice.
