The President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevich, spoke with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and promised to support Kyiv in its fight against Russia.
Zelensky spoke about the phone conversation on social media: "I informed him (Rinkevich - bb.lv) about my meeting with President Trump and our work with the American negotiating team. We worked very well, and the fact that the Russians are now trying to disrupt progress with another wave of falsifications only confirms the quality of our meetings and communication with the American side... I invited the President of Latvia to visit Ukraine."
For his part, Edgars Rinkevich reported that during the phone conversation he informed the Ukrainian leader about the planned military and civilian support for Ukraine from Latvia in 2026. The presidents also discussed the current process of peace negotiations.
Rinkevich also expressed support for the territorial integrity, security, and sovereignty of Ukraine, as well as for the diplomatic efforts of Ukraine, the US, and Europe to end the war.
