The parliamentary investigative commission on migration will soon summarize its activities.
The head of the parliamentary investigative commission on migration, Janis Dombrava (National Alliance), in a conversation with his party mate, Riga Vice Mayor Edwards Ratnieks, stated that the parliamentary commission is close to completing its work and will soon prepare a report. The report will outline the 'loopholes' in the legislation that are maliciously exploited by citizens of third countries. This includes the ability to use someone else's personal data when working as couriers and the possibility of enrolling in a university on behalf of another student... Dombrava hopes to make migration legislation stricter so that fewer citizens of third countries come to Latvia for work and study. 'At the same time, the employees of the Office of Citizenship and Migration admit that in the future, the number of requests for residence permits and visas will only increase, and by more than 10 percent!' the deputy lamented.
