For the cleaning of streets and bridges, the city has 79 cleaning machines from various private companies, for cleaning sidewalks – 43 units of equipment and a team of 10 people who will manually clear the areas around posts and pedestrian crossings.
An agreement has been reached with other companies that during heavy snowfall, an additional 24 units of equipment may be engaged.
If the total expenses are divided into categories, maintaining the streets may cost 17 million, while maintaining the sidewalks may cost 7 million.
At the same time, the street cleaners will have to clear the approaches to yards and doors, and after the sidewalks are cleared by machinery, they will also need to be cleared, as the city plans to remove snow only from 1.5 meters of the sidewalk width, not the entire width.
Last winter, the municipality saved 5 million euros on snow removal, which was directed towards street repairs. It is expected that similar unspent funds will be handled in the current season.
In the spring, all the sand used to sprinkle the roads and sidewalks is also planned to be collected centrally.
By the way, at one of the transport stops at the beginning of the month, one could see a scene where a street cleaner was spreading salt from a bucket on the formed ice. Because rules are rules, but it is necessary to ensure that people do not slip and fall. Thanks to him for that!
This winter, it is planned to clear 1136 km of streets, and transport stops are to be cleared manually.
