We Advocate for the Dismantling of Unnecessary Railway Tracks

Austošā saule: "Russia has not changed its imperialist nature."

The new nationalist party Austošā saule has joined those political forces that demand the dismantling of the tracks on the Russian route: "Latvia and the Baltics are in a geopolitically important position where infrastructure has not only economic but also political and strategic significance. Russia has not changed its imperialist nature, and a repetition of the events of 1940 may be only a matter of timing and geopolitical conditions - Russia cannot be restrained by sanctions or international condemnation, and it perceives reconciliation as an opportunity to prepare for a new war. The political party 'Rising Sun for Latvia' closely monitors the public discussion on Latvia's security issues and cannot help but notice that many Latvian politicians already hope for an 'improvement in relations' with Russia, which would involve increasing economic dependence on the aggressor state, as well as weakening the country's defense plans. Our position is clearly outlined in our party program, including: - We advocate for (point 109) the dismantling of unnecessary railway tracks at the Russian border, retaining only those necessary for domestic and western direction traffic. The goal is to hinder Russian logistics in the event of a military conflict. The arguments of opponents about lost transit profits forget that history has proven that negotiations with Russia lead to bloody tragedies that do not justify short-term economic gains. This necessity is also indicated by the recommendations of analysts from our military allies. For years, the Latvian government has received warnings and recommendations on security issues that have not been heeded - including the issue of connecting the tracks with Russia. We believe that this negligence is a dangerous game, the stakes of which are the security and future of our country."
