“Today I met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braže,” stated the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on social media.
“I awarded her the Order of Merit II degree – for her significant personal contribution to strengthening our cooperation and supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” wrote the Ukrainian president.
He also expressed special gratitude: “Thank you for all the help to our people, for the visit, and especially for the trip to Chernihiv. It is very important for us when partners personally visit such places and support the restoration of our schools and kindergartens.”
According to Zelensky, the parties discussed Latvian support for Ukraine's defense, the possibilities of using the SAFE mechanism, and the prospects for joint arms production.
The president particularly noted that Latvia is a leader in the drone coalition. This year, it supplied about 12,000 drones, which is important support for the defense of Ukraine.
“Our positions are common – we should strengthen the sanctions pressure on Russia and continue the relevant work with partners. Latvia stands with us and will continue to stand with us,” Zelensky wrote.
