The Legal Commission of the Saeima on Wednesday supported the appointment of Armins Meisters, the senior prosecutor of the Riga Judicial District, as Attorney General.
The meeting lasted about 20 minutes.
The final decision on Meisters' appointment will be made at the Saeima's plenary session on Thursday, November 20.
On Wednesday, members of the 'New Unity' faction will meet with Meisters.
Earlier, the head of the faction, Edmunds Jurevics, stated to LETA that he personally sees no reason not to support Meisters.
On Wednesday, parliamentarians from the 'For Stability' party will meet with Meisters, while the time for the meeting with the 'Progressives' is still unknown.
Earlier, the factions of the 'Union of Greens and Farmers' and 'Latvia First' stated that they would vote for Meisters' candidacy.
