The head of NATO's Strategic Communication Center, Janis Sarts, commented this evening on Latvian TV about the saga surrounding the Istanbul Convention. According to the expert, the myths about the Istanbul Convention were invented in the Kremlin, but now they have been picked up by Latvian politicians. Although Sarts believes that Russia is not behind the current political passions in Latvia regarding the convention, such a division in society plays into its hands. "And if we grab each other by the throat, in a situation where an act of sabotage could happen at any moment, then champagne is opened in the Kremlin," the expert warned.
