This evening in Riga, during the torchlight procession dedicated to Lāčplēsis Day, several hundred people set off from the Brothers' Cemetery, reports the LETA agency.

Among the participants of the procession are both schoolchildren and pensioners. Young guards, military personnel, including soldiers from allied countries, are also part of the procession.

Foreigners, primarily speaking German and Finnish, are participating in the torchlight march. Order is maintained by several dozen police officers.

The organizers of the event urge participants to prepare candles and torches on their own.

Let us remind you that at 18:00, there will be an event at the Freedom Monument in honor of the freedom fighters, featuring the men's folklore group "Vilki."

After that, the procession will continue to the 11th November waterfront and will conclude at 18:40 with the launch of a fire raft on the Daugava River near the Stone Bridge.

After 19:00, there will be a joint singing near the walls of the Riga Castle, led by the men's group "Vilki."

In memory of those who fell in the struggle for Latvia's freedom, a concert program will take place in Victory Park starting at 19:00. The post-folklore group "Iļģi," the neofolk group "Jauno Jāņu orķestris," will participate, and the highlight of the concert will be the premiere of a festive program — several performers will sing songs specially created for the event based on folk song lyrics.

At 19:00, there will be an event "Lighting the Candle Flame" in the festive square of the "Northern Lights" Culture House, where joint singing by the bonfires is planned.

At the same time, a concert "On the Hills of Latvia, Oaks are Burning!" will take place at the "Small Guild" Cultural Center.

On the evening of Lāčplēsis Day, there will be an event "Calm Evening on the Daugava" at the "Ave Sol" concert hall, where the Emil Dārziņš Mixed Choir and the Riga Chamber Choir "Ave Sol" will perform with a special program starting at 19:00.
