Saeima Deputy Ramona Petraviča accuses the government of being unable to generate real sources of income and warns: if the situation does not change, Latvia will continue to plunge into debt dependency.
Ramona Petraviča, the secretary of the Saeima's Social Affairs Committee and deputy chair of the 'Latvia First' faction, sharply criticized the government's financial policy during the 'Ziņu TOP' broadcast on TV24, stating that the country is essentially living off borrowings and is unable to ensure real economic growth. According to her, the situation has already reached a catastrophic level.
"We have problems everywhere — not just in healthcare. The government lives solely on credit, and that is the only thing they know how to do: they know how to borrow, but they do not know how to earn. They simply have no options for generating income," said Petraviča.
The deputy emphasized that the most dangerous part of this situation is the enormous interest payments that the country makes daily. "Every day, over one million euros goes just to interest. This is not even debt repayment — it is simply interest. This year — more than a million a day, and next year the amount will be even greater, reaching already two million," noted Petraviča.
