In the field of culture, the amount of the lifetime scholarship will be increased by 20 euros

The State Cultural Capital Fund (GFFC / VKKF) will increase the amount of the lifetime scholarship by 20 euros — from 370 to 390 euros per month, according to information on the VKKF website, reports LETA.

The State Cultural Capital Fund (GFFC) awards lifetime scholarships to outstanding figures in culture and art for their contribution to the development of these fields.

The lifetime scholarship is paid monthly in addition to pensions and other income, and is not subject to taxes. Payments are made from the budgetary funds of the foundation. The scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis, which is held once a year.

The decision to award the scholarship is made by the board of the GFFC, considering each case individually and relying on the conclusion of the expert commission in the relevant field.

The right to nominate candidates for the lifetime scholarship is held by the Ministry of Culture (MC), its institutions and capital companies, the Council of Creative Unions of Latvia, the Union of Local Governments of Latvia, as well as scientific institutions registered in the Register of Scientific Institutions of Latvia that specialize in research in the field of culture.

The GFFC has begun accepting applications not only for the lifetime scholarship program but also for the program to support professional non-governmental cultural organizations. Applications are also being accepted for participation in the program to support strategically significant industry events and in the targeted scholarship program for the development of creativity.

Projects can be submitted until November 21, 23:59. The GFFC will announce the results after December 19.
