Heavy summer rains cost the state 91 thousand euros

The government plans to allocate 91,809 euros to four municipalities to compensate for the damage caused by summer rains, according to a draft order submitted for approval on the legal acts portal (LAP).

Funding from contingency funds is planned to be allocated to the Ministry of Smart Governance and Regional Development for subsequent transfer to local governments. The funds are intended to cover expenses related to the elimination of damage caused to infrastructure facilities owned or managed by local governments by prolonged and heavy rains this summer.

The largest amount of funding is planned for the Smiltene municipality - 31,779 euros. The Gulbene municipality is set to receive 29,467 euros, the Jekabpils municipality - 20,563 euros, and the Daugavpils municipality - 10,000 euros.

As reported, the government has already allocated various amounts to several municipalities to compensate for the damage caused by the rains in July of this year.

Significant damage was inflicted on the infrastructure of the municipalities during the heavy rains, particularly with washouts of road surfaces and damage to drainage pipes.
