Defense Minister Andris Sprudš will visit Zilupe and Ludza today for a regional visit, where he will inform residents about the law on counter-mobility infrastructure, the Ministry of Defense reported.
This visit is a continuation of the minister's regional meetings with residents of border municipalities.
The minister's visit will begin in Ludza, where he will meet with the chairman of the Ludza District Council, Edgars Mekshs.
After the meeting, Sprudš will visit Zilupe, where he will hold a meeting with residents at the local cultural center.
The visit will continue at 5 PM at the cultural center in Ludza, where Sprudš will meet with local residents.
Finance Minister Arvils Ašeradens will visit the State Border Guard (SBG) units and the state border today - the Ludza SBG office in Terehova and Pasiens, as well as the section of the Latvian-Russian border overseen by the Ludza office.
The purpose of the visit is to familiarize himself with the development of border infrastructure and the implemented security measures.
During the visit, the finance minister, along with representatives of the SBG, the National Armed Forces (NAF), and other involved institutions, will visit the border checkpoint in Terehova to learn about its operations.
The minister will also visit the Silene department of the Daugavpils SBG office.
