Member of the European Parliament on the peacekeeping efforts of the US president and the position of "Patriots of Europe"
Member of the European Parliament from the political group "Patriots of Europe" Vilis Kristopans commented on the latest important events in the European Parliament and international politics in an interview with the newspaper "Segodnya."
— As your readers probably already know, the political group in the European Parliament "Patriots of Europe" initiated another vote in the European Parliament regarding the resignation of Ms. Ursula von der Leyen from the position of President of the European Commission. There are more than enough reasons for her resignation: the destructive green policy for our continent, a complete failure in protecting the economic interests of the European Union, the inability and unwillingness to rein in bureaucracy... This list can go on and on. Unfortunately, we have not yet succeeded in removing Ms. von der Leyen. But I am proud that all 86 members of our group voted for the resignation of the President of the European Commission. In other political groups, there was no such unity — some voted "for," some "against," and some did not participate in the vote at all...
But I have no doubt that Ms. von der Leyen's swan song will soon be sung — she clearly "does not measure up" to this position and is harming the present and future of the European Union.
It is noteworthy that exactly one and a half years ago, during the pre-election debates for the European Parliament elections, I clearly stated that the EU could not financially sustain two mega-themes: "green hallucinations" and security. And I called for a focus on security, directing forces and resources there. At that time, my political opponents smiled skeptically... And what do we see today? More and more EU countries — primarily those where industrial production still exists — are trying, if not to cancel the "green course," at least to minimize the negative consequences of this "green policy." It is clear that hundreds of millions of euros have already been spent on the "green course," and it will not be easy to abandon this destructive policy, but there is a growing understanding that this is a path to nowhere. The EU is losing competitiveness, and people will pay more every day for fuel, gas, and food...
It must be understood that the "green policy" does not exist in isolation; it is all part of leftist, liberal politics. This package of liberal policies includes special hospitality towards migrants and the imposition of the lifestyle concept from the LGBTQ community. We, conservatives, are trying to resist this, as we believe that the continuation of this liberal policy will lead to the demise of civilized Europe! I very much hope that from election to election in EU countries, conservative forces will come to power. This is a destructive migration and green policy for Europe. I certainly hope that voters will sweep away leaders like Macron in France or Sanchez in Spain. In France, one of the leaders of "Patriots of Europe," Jordan Bardella, has excellent chances of winning the presidential elections. Currently, the party led by Bardella is supported by 33% of the French, and Bardella has great chances of becoming the next president of France.
— Mr. Kristopans, recently there was a lengthy phone conversation between Trump and Putin, after which Trump held talks with Zelensky. A meeting between the presidents of the USA and Russia is expected in Budapest. What is your forecast for the possible outcome of these negotiations?
— Probably, no one would dare to predict the results of the negotiations right now. As we know, Trump himself admitted that he did not expect that resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine would be so difficult... The most tragic and terrible thing in this situation is that neither side is ready to end the war. This is always the case in history — it is much easier to start a war than to end it. But we must give credit to Trump's perseverance — he genuinely wants to stop the bloodshed. We see that he has already managed to halt a number of conflicts. Just think of the ceasefire between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas, which allowed all living hostages — peaceful residents of Israel — to return home. Who else, besides Trump, could have achieved such a thing?!
I very much hope for a positive outcome of the negotiations and am glad that they will take place in a country led by one of the leaders of "Patriots of Europe" - Viktor Orban! It is amusing, of course, to read the shouts of opponents of the negotiations regarding how it is possible that the International Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin, and Hungary is ready to accept him and has no intention of detaining him. Well, firstly, Hungary has already exited the jurisdiction of this International Court, and secondly — what is more important for all sane people: to end this bloody slaughter in Ukraine, or to adhere to very questionable decisions of a very dubious court, the legitimacy of which, for example, the USA does not recognize at all? The answer, in my opinion, is obvious!
At this moment, it is very important to be on the right side of history — alongside Trump, alongside Orban. And I am indeed on that side!
