What memorandum, idiots? Political scientist on how politicians are fighting rising prices

Jurgis Liepnieks believes that the authorities are trying to solve the problem of the high cost of living from the wrong end.

As is known, the government still holds out hope of somehow taming food prices. However, political scientist Jurgis Liepnieks believes that politicians are simply completely illiterate in economic matters and do not understand the cause-and-effect relationship.

"In that empty discussion about food prices, which they want to lower with a memorandum and long-existing tools for price comparison, it seems that it is not mentioned at all that we have (mostly) the most expensive fuel in the region, the most expensive electricity and the most expensive heating in the region, the highest property taxes, and the largest administrative burden. How can we have the lowest prices for anything with all this?! All of this affects food prices and everything else. How can one not understand where to start solving this? What memorandum, idiots?

And to think that food prices can be lowered by some memorandum, to seriously discuss this, is something worse than foolishness," the political scientist wrote on the social network X.
