The head of the parliamentary faction "New Unity" is confident that the 2026 budget and bills within the framework of the "green course" will be adopted.
Let us remind you that today the opposition successfully disrupted the quorum during the plenary session considering the bill "On Pollution," which was intended to strengthen the fight against environmental pollution by large enterprises. The opposition simply took advantage of the fact that 4 deputies from the ruling coalition were absent from parliament.
However, the head of the Saeima faction "New Unity," Edmunds Jurēvičs, assured this evening on Latvian TV that within a week all ruling deputies will be present and the mentioned bill will be adopted. Jurēvičs is confident that coalition discipline will be maintained during the consideration of the 2026 budget as well. The deputy answered affirmatively to the question of whether, as happened last year, deputies who are on sick leave will be brought to the Saeima to ensure a majority vote.
