The U.S. Ambassador to Latvia, Melissa Argyros, published a greeting for the Ligo and Jāņi holidays on social media in English.
While some users thanked her for the congratulations on Latvia's national holidays, others pointed out circumstances that, in their opinion, do not demonstrate sufficient respect for the Latvian state from the U.S. Embassy.
The main reason for the criticism was that information in Russian is still available on the website of the U.S. Embassy in Latvia.
