The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, in cooperation with the State Fire and Rescue Service, issued warnings on Sunday about possible thunderstorms in certain regions of Latvia and strong heat in Riga.
A thunderstorm with heavy rain and hail in some areas is expected on Sunday morning in parts of western Latvia; however, by the afternoon, thunderstorm clouds will gather in the eastern part of the country. This warning is in effect from early morning until 21:00.
A warning for an expected thunderstorm in Riga is also in place from 11:00 to 14:00. The thunderstorm may be accompanied by heavy rain and hail.
In the afternoon, strong heat is expected in Riga - the air temperature will rise to +27 degrees. This warning is in effect from 13:00 to 18:00.
