The platform veseliba.lv has created a convenient online medication search engine, as well as an instant reservation system.

Using the new platform, residents of Latvia can quickly and easily find a pharmacy that has the medications they need and immediately reserve them to pick up closer to home — at one of the Mēness aptieka pharmacies.

"It is very important for us that anyone who needs medications can access them right away. A simple and understandable solution was needed to help people living anywhere in Latvia quickly find the nearest pharmacy that sells the necessary medications.

That’s why now everyone can easily check on their phone or computer which specific Mēness aptieka has the required medications available, and not just check, but reserve them right away. This saves time, reduces stress, and brings a sense of calm.

No more need to visit pharmacies in person to find out where the needed medication is currently available.

Our medication search engine is a great example of how technology facilitates access to healthcare services and strengthens the everyday connection between the patient and the pharmacist. Obtaining medications has become a simple, fast, and convenient process," explains Elena Petrishina, a member of the board of Mēness aptieka and a pharmacist.

The new system is clear and intuitive, easy to use even for someone who is not computer-savvy. Medications can be searched by their exact name or by the active chemical substance. This is important because sometimes a product from a specific manufacturer is unavailable, but the pharmacy has other medications that are equivalent in therapeutic properties. Additionally, this smart digital platform immediately indicates whether the medication is prescription or not.

Moreover, the system shows the actual number of packages of each medication available in that pharmacy. Another convenience is the gathered information about the contact details and working hours of all pharmacies in the network in one place.

"Digital solutions in the pharmaceutical industry are an important step towards accessibility and convenience of healthcare services for patients. The new medication search and reservation system helps residents learn about the availability of necessary medications faster and plan their acquisition better.

It is important to emphasize that technological solutions complement but do not replace professional consultation with a specialist. Modern pharmacy is focused on patient care, so any technology should go hand in hand with both accessibility and quality pharmaceutical assistance," emphasizes Zane Melberga, president of the Latvian Pharmacists Association.

The system is also linked to the e-veseliba portal, making it convenient to review prescribed medications on the platform. Currently, the designated medications are searched for by the patient or their trusted person, but in the future, based on e-prescriptions, the necessary medications will be able to be reserved automatically.

To ensure that the client receives their order as quickly and smoothly as possible, pharmacists receive a special notification as soon as the medication is reserved and immediately prepare the medication for dispensing.

The platform updates data on available medications and their quantities in the Mēness aptieka network daily. Patients can be completely confident that the medication they need will be found, specifically in a certain pharmacy and at a convenient time.

Reserving medications provides the advantage of acquiring the necessary medications calmly and on time. This is a successful combination of technology, convenience, and high-quality service. Upon receiving the reserved item, the client can always rely on professional consultation from the pharmacist on-site.

Note: The platform veseliba.lv brings together three leading healthcare service providers — Mēness aptieka, Veselības centru apvienība, and Centrālā Laboratorija. This ensures a unified and convenient path for patient service, from visiting a doctor and taking tests to obtaining medications.
