There were enough positions with supplements for everyone.

As previously reported, the change of government has also led to significant personnel reshuffles in the Saeima. Moreover, the fact that the current parliament has only 4.5 months left to exist did not prevent politicians from this reshuffling, especially since from June 19 until almost the end of August, the Saeima will be on summer break!

Former ministers of the Silin government elected to the Saeima, including Silina herself, were quickly assigned to leadership positions in parliament: Arvils Ašeradens headed the Committee on Economic Affairs, Inese Lībiņa-Egnere became the chair of the Human Rights Committee, Kaspars Melņis was elected chair of the Committee on Public Expenditures and Audits, and Raimonds Čudars became his deputy. The former Prime Minister Evika Silina herself headed the Committee on European Affairs. They even remembered the former Minister of Communications Atis Švinka, who transitioned to the opposition - he headed the Saeima subcommittee on the development of innovative ecosystems - what exactly this subcommittee can develop in just two months of actual work (considering the summer break) is a mystery, but at least the former minister will receive a substantial supplement to his deputy salary.

Another former minister from the 'Progressives', Kaspars Briškens, who was removed from the position of chair of the Committee on Economic Affairs, was today elected chair of the subcommittee on combating the shadow economy!

In fact, only the former Minister of Agriculture Armands Krauze has remained without a position - apparently because he became a subject of the high-profile investigation known as the woodworkers' case. It is quite possible that both Krauze himself and other ruling deputies understand that the prosecutor's office may demand the lifting of Krauze's parliamentary immunity at any moment, which would complicate his work in any leadership position in the Saeima.
