As of January 1 of this year, 253,572 Latvian citizens indicated foreign countries as their place of residence, which is 1.2% more than on July 1, 2025.
According to data from the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, the largest number of Latvian citizens have registered their residence in the United Kingdom — 101,136 people. This is followed by Germany, where 27,151 Latvian citizens reside, and Ireland — 24,075 Latvian citizens.
Compared to July 1 of last year, the number of Latvian citizens in the United Kingdom has increased by 762 people, in Germany it has grown by 365 people, while in Ireland it has decreased by 26 people.
In Russia, 5,363 Latvian citizens indicated their place of residence, and in Belarus — 1,128 citizens.
One Latvian citizen also resides in countries such as Somalia, Sierra Leone, Greenland, Ethiopia, and others.
