Currently, Latvia is experiencing a critical shortage of donor blood of all groups, according to information published on the website of the State Blood Donor Center (GCDC), LETA reports.
The Blood Donor Center (GCDC) urges residents to respond and donate blood, as donor blood is needed daily by patients in hospitals, including for emergency surgeries, childbirth, treatment of injuries, and cancer diseases.
In the coming days, blood can be donated during GCDC's mobile events:
June 12:
- at the Dole Community House (Rīgas Street, 26, Kekava) from 10:00 to 13:00;
- at the Origo shopping center in Riga (Station Square) as part of World Blood Donor Day events from 12:00 to 16:00.
June 15:
- at the Adazi Culture Center (Gaujas Street, 33A) from 10:00 to 13:00;
- in a specialized bus at BLRT Invest Latvia (Katlakalna Street, 9A, Riga) from 10:00 to 14:00;
- at the Ventspils High School/Business Incubator (Inženieru Street, 101) from 10:00 to 14:00.
June 16:
- at the Liepaja Olympic Center (Brivibas Street, 39) from 9:00 to 13:00;
- at the Madona Music School (Blaumaņa Street, 16) from 9:00 to 12:30;
- at the GPSS unit in Saldus (Skrundas Street, 28) from 10:00 to 14:00;
- in a specialized bus at the Baldone Social Care Center (Iecavas Street, 4, Baldone) from 10:00 to 14:00.
June 17:
- at the Liepaja Olympic Center from 9:00 to 13:00;
- in a specialized bus at Business Garden (Maldūguņu Street, 4, Marupe) from 10:00 to 14:00.
June 18:
- at the Gulbene Culture Center (O. Kalpaka Street, 60) from 9:00 to 13:00;
- at the Jelgava Municipality (Pasta Street, 37, Jelgava) from 10:00 to 14:00;
- in a specialized bus at the Verde Business Center (R. Hirša Street, 1, Riga) from 10:00 to 14:00.
June 19:
- at the Ilūkste Culture House (Brivibas Street, 12) from 9:00 to 12:00;
- at the Kauguri Culture House (Rainis Street, 110, Jurmala) from 10:00 to 14:00;
- in a specialized bus at the Sāga shopping center (Bikeri Street, 4, Dreiliņi) from 10:00 to 14:00.
Blood can also be donated regularly at several locations throughout Latvia. In Riga, donors are accepted at Selpils Street, 9, as well as at the donor reception points "Gailezers" (Hippocrates Street, 2) and "Sakta" (Brivibas Boulevard, 32).
Permanent blood donation points also operate at the Daugavpils Regional Hospital (Viestura Street, 5), at the Kurzeme branch in Liepaja (Slimnicas Street, 25), at the Jelgava City Hospital (Brivibas Boulevard, 6), at the Vidzeme Hospital in Valmiera (Jumara Street, 195), and at the Latgale branch in Rezekne (18 Novembra Street, 41).
