The active road work season continues in Latvia. Currently, construction and repair work is underway on 60 sections of state roads, and on some routes, drivers need to allow up to an additional hour for travel.

Extensive repair work continues on the network of state roads in Latvia. According to Latvijas valsts ceļi (LVC), traffic restrictions are currently in effect on 60 sections across the country.

Work is being carried out not only on roads but also on bridges, overpasses, and road safety facilities. Repairs are taking place on ten sections of major state roads, ten regional routes, 26 local roads, as well as on six bridges and overpasses. Eight additional projects are related to improving traffic safety.

The most serious difficulties for drivers are currently observed on the Daugavpils highway (A6). Traffic lights are in operation and speed limits of 50–70 km/h are in effect on the section between Gospodari and Nīcgale. Passing through the repaired segment may take about 40 minutes.

Additional delays are expected for drivers on the A6 section between Kalniški and Lūbaste, where passing through the repair zone takes approximately 25 minutes.

The situation remains complicated on the Daugavpils ring road (A14). Three traffic light-regulated segments are set up near the interchange and on the section to Svete, increasing travel time by about half an hour.

What is important to know: the largest time losses are currently recorded not on highways near Riga, but on certain regional roads, where the number of traffic light sections reaches seven.

For example, on the Gulbene — Balvi — Viļaka — Vientuli road (P35) between Litene and Balvi, traffic is regulated by seven traffic lights. Passing through the repaired section may take up to 55 minutes.

Serious restrictions are also in place on the Bauska — Aizkraukle road (P87), where part of the route near Ozolaini is closed to transit traffic and a detour has been organized. Here, drivers should expect approximately 40 additional minutes of travel time.

Work continues in the vicinity of the capital as well. On the Bauska highway (A7) near Riga, construction is underway for facilities related to the fourth phase of the Southern Bridge, and a new bike-pedestrian connection is being created between Kekava and Riga. On this section, traffic is organized in one lane in each direction.

Restrictions are also in effect on roads in Kurzeme, Latgale, and Vidzeme, including routes towards Kolka, Roja, Priekuļi, Koknese, and Ludza.

With the start of the summer season, the intensity of road work traditionally increases. Drivers are advised to check routes in advance and consider possible delays, especially when traveling long distances and on weekends.
